2012 Kai 'Opua Practice Schedule - updated 3/15/2012

The 2012 regatta season is beginning and that means practices will be starting soon. We will be updating this news item and the racing and practice schedule page on our website as new information becomes available.

NEW! First practice for Men's Novice B's will be on March 20th at 4:00pm. First practice for the remaining Men's program will be on April 3rd at 5:15pm. The men's program will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturday mornings (for those doing Kawaihae) starting the 14th through the Kawaihae L.D. race. 

Novice "Y", menehune, aka "Special Events" or any keiki under 12 but over 7. Auntie Jo and Uncle Frank and maybe Aunties Betty, Carey and Lisa will be spear-heading this group. Practice starts next Tuesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 15th at 3:30 at the pier. Normally practice time will be at 3:45 but the first few days will be at 3:30 in order to complete the membership paperwork. Contact is Auntie Jo at jomafarm@msn.com or 989-5253.

Girls 13,14. Auntie Blondie and Auntie Tita will be starting practice March 7. Be at the pier around 3:45 pm. You can paddle in these age brackets if you were that age on Jan. 1st of this year. Any questions? Ask Auntie Blondie - 989-4146.

Girls 12, 15, 16, 18: Practices start Monday - March 12th at 3:45

Boys 12, 13, 14 - Practice starts Tuesday - March 13th at 3:45 - BRING RUNNING SHOES!

Boys 15, 16, 18 - Practice starts Thursday - March 15th at 3:45

Parents/Guardians of new paddlers, please remember: kids need to know how to swim!!! Liability forms and membership forms will be available. If you are new, please bring a copy of their birth certificate. Cost for new paddlers is $45.00 + $5.00 for HCRA registration. Returnees is just $45.00. Auntie Kealai will at the pier for registration on Mondays, starting March 19.
Jo Ma will be at the pier on Tuesday and Thursdays starting March 13.

You can also complete the membership form online.  You need to log in or sign up as a member, but you can pay, upload, print and download forms from the website.

The Women's coaching staff this year is Cheryl Villegas, Amy Young, Bill Taylor and Sefi Salinas. First practice for Women's Novice A's and B's will be on March 12th. They will run M/W and every other Friday from 5:15 - 7pm.

First practice for the rest of the women's program will be March 19th at 5:30-7pm. This will run M/W and every other Friday until regatta starts, then we drop Fridays. 

The women's coaching staff will be having a clinic for all KOCC women on March 17th at 8am at the pier to kick off the season. (people should be prepared to swim and paddle) The clinic will be at least 2 hrs in length.
