Kalikimaka Boat Parade - Sunday, Dec 7, 2025

You may choose to SIGN UP for this event by submitting your name and contact details below. You will be prompted before submitting your info.
DESCRIPTION:

Kai Opua has a double hull entry entry (and seats are full) coordinated by Walt Wells. They have already been planning and building the entry. But they might be the only entry so there is more money to potentially be awarded. If another Kai Opua entry can be coordinated….please adhere to all the parade rules. This on-the-water parade is after dark so this should be a double hull.  It it will need to be rigged from two OC6 on the beach and returned to two OC6 Sunday night after the parade. The monthly Kokua Kailua Stroll is that afternoon so take it into consideration for traffic and parking to get to the Kailua Pier area. If Kai Opua wants to show more Christmas spirit with a second entry, and if cash award is won, monies will be going to the Kai Opua general fund. The paddlers can only be Kai Opua members and our code of conduct is in place.

There is also opportunities for OC1, OC2 and SUP entry.  That is on an individual basis, not Kai Opua. Please do not show up that evening to be in the parade if you are not already acknowledged as an entry.

Read all the info below! This is last minute and you MUST double check that an entry at this point will be accepted by the Lighted Boat Parade coordinator….all intent at this point should go to Kolina Silva  hkvevents@gmail.com. Do NOT reply to this email for event entry.

 Aloha Boaters and Canoers,

We are so excited for the Kalikimaka Boat Parade this Sunday, December 7th! We are still accepting applications for boats and canoes, please spread the word!

Logistics and Line-up info:

Boats will meet on the water at 6:00pm and begin to line up just north of the Kailua Pier (see map attached, DO NOT follow the path lines, just the start area). Tune into channel 79 and check in by stating your boat name and entry number.  If you do not have a radio system, please let us know and I will let the lead boat know and you will just line up behind the boat you are assigned.  One of the Body Glove boats will be the lead boat, please line boats up single file line behind that boat.  The Kalikimaka Boat Parade will begin promptly at 6:10pm.  We are hoping to have more late entries sign up so please note that there may be more boats at the end of the line up below.  There may be a cruise ship scheduled to depart after 6pm. Please be careful out on the water and try not to stay too close to the ship!

PARADE PATH:
The parade will do TWO small loops in front of the Pier. It will start just north of Kailua Pier and then slowly drive past the pier, take your time, show off in front of the judges on the pier! Announcer will be on the Body Glove DOCKED boat and will love to see what you all have going on too so if the water is calm and you can hug in tight to the docked Body Glove when you turn that would be awesome!  Then do this over again one more time past the pier and then continue doing the small loop.  All CANOES/STAND UP PADDLERS will follow the last boat in the line up and continue on your canoe path.

All will follow the lead of the Body Glove boat, if conditions are not what we expect, the Body Glove may cut the course shorter.  We only have 7 boats and 1 canoe confirmed at the moment and any late entries will be added to the back of the boat lined up, canoes will start after the last boat parades and any late added canoes/kayaks/stand ups will line up after the last canoe.

All motored boats are required to have their own boat/company insurance and must sign the Marine/Ocean Waters Event Hold-Harmless Agreement Indemnifying the State of Hawaii Against Any Liability Form.  If you have not sent me the waiver form yet, please email that to me as soon as possible. I will need to turn those in the day after the parade.
